Shifflet and Martha Herron, on 23 September 1907 in Mill Creek, Randolph, West Virginia.8,9,7 Ira Washington Wilfong died on 13 August 1943 in Bridgeport, Harrison, West Virginia, at age 75.3 He was buried on 15 August 1943 in Flemington, Harrison, West Virginia.3
     He may have been a preacher who went town to town preaching (and marrying people). He worked on the railroad until he got hurt. He may have come over from Germany with his mother.9 He was a minister in 1930.10

When it says that Ira Washington Wilfong was a "disconnected" Wilfong, what does that mean? Ira and Jettie were my father's parents (Percy). I am trying to find out what the names of his parents were. I also have learned that it may be more probable that he did not come over from Germany, so I am confused. All my life I had heard that he had came, only I was told that it was by himself, then I learned that he may have came with his mother, and the last I heard was that he didn't come over at all, but was born in Pendleton County West Virginia!     Mr. Emerson was a member of the Flaming Sword Apostolic Church in East View. He had worked in his younger days in CCC Camps, worked in the coal mines and served for many years as minister of the Meadowbrook Apostolic Church. He had retired from Kelly Miller High School, where he was a janitor.
    Mr. Emerson liked to go fishing, watch television, listen to gospel music and do some "preaching."
    Friends may call at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main Street, Clarksburg from 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Randy Smith presiding. Interment will follow in Flemington I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
