     Ruth Hattie Melton was born on 18 June 1924 in Elkview, Kanawha, West Virginia.1,3 She was the daughter of Benjamin Adley "Jinks" Melton and Josie A. Hayes.2,1 Ruth Hattie Melton married Eugene P. Shreve on 26 March 1949.1 Ruth Hattie Melton died on 6 October 1999 in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital at age 75.1,3 She was buried after 6 October 1999 in Hampton Cemetery, Buckhannon, Upshur, West Virginia.1,3
     Hattie was only 15 months old when she came to Mom (Mont Clarence and Allie). She was always a joker and made close friends that lasted forever. Absolutely determined to follow Pete, La, and Freda through St. Francis School of Nursing and was supervisor of Surgery before here marriage.2 Ruth was a registered nurse and a homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Rupert United Methodist Church.1 Hattie Ruth Melton was adopted.4
