Hi John as coincidence would have it I just received some more info
from my cousin in that area who was able to sit down and have his
father remember every thing he could.
I have been digging but have not come up with anything positive yet.
Below is a copy of the info from my cousin although I think the birth
and death date for Sarah are incorrect. Now both my mother and her
older brother (Wilbur Wilfong) whom is my cousins dad say their
grandfather was named Jeff Wilfong also if you recall my my mother
remembered something about the Swishers disinheriting Herchal this
would make sense if Swisher was Sarah's maiden name. Also I noticed you
had added what info you had to your family tree I was wondering if you

Well I finally got dad to set down and talk and remember what he could
about the family.
Sadie or Sarah ( he don't know which was her given name) was married
three times. Jeff was her middle husband. A Lucas was her last husband.
He thinks her maden name was either Merrill or Swisher. She was somehow
related to a Will Merrill and a Charles Swisher from Monongah WV. She
was born 4/12/1853 and died in 1937 at age 84.
Jeff Wilfong was raised by a family by name of Watson from Fairmont.
Jeff was some sort of Engineer and helped build bridges in Fairmont and
the old Lumberport bridge. He also designed and built the retaining
walls for the Fairmont bridge. The walls are still standing.
As far as dad knows he was an only child.
I hope this helps you. He has a lot of knowledge of Grandma Myrtles
family if you need it.

Hi John, thanks for all your help . Spelling seems to have been a problem back then as I have found thus far 5 different spellings for Herchel
My mother does not think Herchel had any siblings ( but she only meet her father a couple of times )
Herchel died in WV in 1964 and buried in the Shinnston area.
My mother said when she was very young she remembers talk that Herchel was disinherited by the Swisher family ( he had some type of relationship with an Alice Swisher) on the census rolls there were a lot of Swishers in the same area.
Also my mother said about 1940 she was introduced to a Jeff Wilfong and told he was her grandfather. I found almost the same thing today it included the same note within a full page story (ID: 1143) The names are all good but in the article I found it showed Benjamin Frank Lucas as dead in 1922. However I called my mother again and she said yes she remembers Frank Lucas very well and they did call Sarah e. Sadie. Hi John as coincidence would have it I just received some more info
from my cousin in that area who was able to sit down and have his
father remember every thing he could.
I have been digging but have not come up with anything positive yet.
Below is a copy of the info from my cousin although I think the birth
and death date for Sarah are incorrect. Now both my mother and her
older brother (Wilbur Wilfong) whom is my cousins dad say their
grandfather was named Jeff Wilfong also if you recall my my mother
remembered something about the Swishers disinheriting Herchal this
would make sense if Swisher was Sarah's maiden name. Also I noticed you
had added what info you had to your family tree I was wondering if you

Well I finally got dad to set down and talk and remember what he could
about the family.
Sadie or Sarah ( he don't know which was her given name) was married
three times. Jeff was her middle husband. A Lucas was her last husband.
He thinks her maden name was either Merrill or Swisher. She was somehow
related to a Will Merrill and a Charles Swisher from Monongah WV. She
was born 4/12/1853 and died in 1937 at age 84.
Jeff Wilfong was raised by a family by name of Watson from Fairmont.
Jeff was some sort of Engineer and helped build bridges in Fairmont and
the old Lumberport bridge. He also designed and built the retaining
walls for the Fairmont bridge. The walls are still standing.
As far as dad knows he was an only child.
I hope this helps you. He has a lot of knowledge of Grandma Myrtles
family if you need it.

I found almost the same thing today it included the same note within a full page story (ID: 1143) The names are all good but in the article I found it showed Benjamin Frank Lucas as dead in 1922. However I called my mother again and she said yes she remembers Frank Lucas very well and they did call Sarah e. Sadie.
