Gene H. Wilson, 85, of Buckhannon, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Wilsontown, a son of the late Oscar J. and Bernice Fidler Wilson.
His first wife, Mildred H. Wilson, preceded him in death. His second wife, Juanita Brohard Wilson, survives him. A son, Michael G. Wilson and wife Pam, of Buckhannon, and one daughter, Lisa W. Seaborn and husband John, of Richmond, Va., survive him.
A stepson, Joey Reger, of Buckhannon, and one stepdaughter, Charlotte Anderson, of Baltimore, Md., survive him as well. Eight grandchildren: M. Todd Wilson and wife Jennifer, of Charleston, Nicole Kelly and husband Christopher, of Monroeville, Pa., Madison Seaborn, of Richmond, Va., Steven Anderson, Terri L. Jack, both of Baltimore, Md., Jeremy Reger, Joshua Todd Reger and Michaella Reger, all of Buckhannon, also survive him.
Five great-grandchildren: Keisha C. Wilson, Kelsey A. Wilson, both of Buckhannon, Connor T. Kelly, of Monroeville, Pa., Miah Reger, of Buckhannon, and Bradley Nelson, of Baltimore, Md., survive him as well.
Two sisters: Billie Ridgeon, of California, and Roberta Wilfong, of Mississippi, survive him, as do several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers: Paul Wilson and Robert Wilson, along with three sisters: Phyllis Zickefoose, Carol Lewis and Oneita Masters preceded him in death.
Mr. Wilson was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corp, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was retired from the Upshur County Board of Education, where he was director of transportation and director of the warehouse.
Mr. Wilson was a past master of the Rock Cave Lodge No. 81, past worthy patron of the Aletha Chapter No. 82 Eastern Star of Rock Cave, and a member of the Upshur County No. 34 RAM. He was a member of the French Creek DAV Chapter No. 36, and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 3663 of Buckhannon.
Friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005; from 4 to 8 p.m. Mr. Wilson will be moved to the Wilson Chapel UM Church on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, where he will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. the funeral hour.
Interment will follow in the Wilsontown Cemetery. The Rock Cave Lodge No. 81, will have Masonic services at the graveside.
The Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
