In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael R. Ashley; three brothers, Meyers, Page and Keith Dowell and one sister, Nora Smith. She is survived by one son, Robert Lee Sowder, II of Buckhannon; one daughter, Roberta Ann Ashley and husband Mike of Woodstock, IL; one grandson, John Ashley and wife Kathryn of New York, NY; two brothers, Howard Dowell and James Dowell both of Buckhannon; one sister, Kathryn Goldsmith of Salem, WV and many nieces and nephews. At the time of her retirement Mrs. Sowder was a secretary for Fairfax County School Systems in Virginia. Friends will be received Saturday, November 10, 2007 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 4 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bradley Tenney officiating. Burial will follow in the Reger Chapel Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local American Diabetes Association in Dorothy’s memory. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
