     Samuel Andrew Teets was born on 18 March 1831 in Somerset, Pennsylvania.2 He was born on 18 May 1831 in Virginia.3,4,5,6,7 He was the son of Andrew Henry Teets and Catherine J. "Katy" Ringer.1 Samuel Andrew Teets married Catherine Hardin Van Sickle, daughter of David Van Sickle and Catherine Hardin, on 15 September 1851.8,9 Samuel Andrew Teets died on 5 September 1906 in Lake Ford Farm, Maryland, at age 75.8,10 He was buried after 5 September 1906 in Lake Ford Cemetery, Maryland.8
     As were most of our ancestors, Samuel Andrew teets was a farmer. He also had a saw mill near Browning Dam. He lived near Hazleton, moving to the Lake Ford area prior to the birth of his youngest son in 1868. The land he owned was on both sides of the state line. He built a log house that stood on the North of the present house near the Lake Ford Church. Samuel and Catherine woulde speak Dutch but would not permit their children to learn the language. They felt that the children needed to speak only English.2 Samuel Andrew Teets was also known as Samuel A. Teats.5

     Andrew Henry Teets was born in 1793 in Cheat River, Preston, Virginia.1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9 He was the son of Michael (Old Mike) Teets Sr.5 Andrew Henry Teets married Catherine J. "Katy" Ringer circa 1823.9
     Andrew and Catherine owned land in both Preston County, West Virginia and Garrett County, Maryland, although they lived most of the time in Preston County. Oddly, they are shown in both counties in the 1870 census. Apparently they were visiting or living with their grandson Lucien (son of George W.) that summer, but were back in their own home in Preston County by September. Their daughter Ana Eliza lived with her parents until their death, then she lived with Samuel Andrew.10 Andrew Henry Teets was also known as Henry Andrew Teets.1,2,3,4 Andrew Henry Teets was also known as Henry Teats.2

     Alpheus "Alpha" Teets was born on 3 March 1831 in Preston, Virginia.6,7,8,9,5 He was the son of Adam Teets and Elizabeth Mosser.5 Alpheus "Alpha" Teets married Mary Vail, daughter of John Bridge Vail and Sophia Brown, on 6 March 1860 in Macomb, McDonough, Illinois.8,10,11,12,5 Alpheus "Alpha" Teets died on 10 July 1908 at age 77.12 He was buried after 10 July 1908 in Vail Cemetery, Industry, McDonough, Illinois.12
     Alpha moved to Sterling, Nebraska and had a 600 acre ranch.13 He moved to Illinois.13 Biography from McDonough County Illinois History Book [specific source unknown]:
"Alpha Teats, a farmer of Industry Township, was born March 3, 1831, in Preston County, West Virginia. His parents were Adam and Elizabeth (Mosser) Teats, who were likewise natives of West Virginia. His father was born in 1790, and his mother, July 13, 1793. Their marriage occured in 1813, and the former died in 1865 and the latter in 1869. Alpha was brought up on a farm and received his education as opportunity offered in the common schools, working hard during the summer months on the farm. He remained with his parents, engaged in the various duties incident to the farm life, until 22 years old, and then worked out by the month for about 3 years. He then came west, and first lived with Nathaniel Scott, in Chalmers Township, of this county, about two years, working by the month. Subsequently, he worked for other parties until 1860. Upon the 6th day of March of that year, he was married to Mary Vail, daughter of John Vail, Of Industry Township. By the union five children ---- Lucinda, born August 1, 1861; Adaline, born July 16, 1864; Nancy L., born September 24, 1865; John E., born January 23, 1868, and died August 21, 1869; and Bertha S., born January 18, 1877. Mr. Teets is now engaged in general farming and owns a farm on section 8, Industry Township, which is fairly well improved. Himself and wife are members of the Christian Church.     "Alpha Teats, a farmer of Industry Township, was born March 3, 1831, in Preston County, West Virginia. His parents were Adam and Elizabeth (Mosser) Teats, who were likewise natives of West Virginia. His father was born in 1790, and his mother, July 13, 1793. Their marriage occured in 1813, and the former died in 1865 and the latter in 1869. Alpha was brought up on a farm and received his education as opportunity offered in the common schools, working hard during the summer months on the farm. He remained with his parents, engaged in the various duties incident to the farm life, until 22 years old, and then worked out by the month for about 3 years. He then came west, and first lived with Nathaniel Scott, in Chalmers Township, of this county, about two years, working by the month. Subsequently, he worked for other parties until 1860. Upon the 6th day of March of that year, he was married to Mary Vail, daughter of John Vail, Of Industry Township.
