To this union were born seven children, and all but one survive: Reid and Oliver of Friendsville; Thelma, Uniontown, Pa.; Vesta Riley, Grace Thomas and Stella Friend, also Friendsville. Leslie Earl died in infancy. Brothers and sisters Bert Teets, May Casteel, Blanche Uphold, Hazelton, W. Va.; William Teets of Morgantown, W. Va.; Effie Uphold, Friendsville; Minnie Schroyer, Jeannette, Pa.; Daisy Schultz, Ault, Colorado; Dessie Cheney, Holyoke, Colorado; and Nellie Liggett of Sterling, Colorado. On June 3 [1948] he was united in marriage to Mrs. Martha Uphold, who also survives. Funeral services from the White Rock Church of God, southeast of Friendsville on June 23, Rev.      James Franklin "Frank" Teets was born on 12 January 1905.1,2 He was the son of Harrison Teets and Mary Martha Virginia "Jennie" DeBerry.3 James Franklin "Frank" Teets died on 1 June 1919 in Pleasant District, Hazleton, Preston, West Virginia, at age 14.1 He was buried on 4 June 1919 in Parnell Cemetery (near Cuzzart Church), Hazleton, Preston, West Virginia.1 He died on 19 June 1919 at age 14.4
     James Franklin was killed in an accident with a runaway horse and buggy at age 15.4

    Mrs. Sara M. Teets, aged 70, widow of John A. Teets, died at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. E. S. Caton, 183 Coolspring street, after a lingering illness. She was a devout member of the Church of the Brethren, and a well-known local resident.

    Surviving are the following daughters: Mrs. Joseph Niner, Terra Alta, W. Va.; Mrs. Albert Nabors, and Mrs. E. S. Caton, both of Uniontown, and Mrs. Edna Caton, of Huntington, W. Va. She also leaves two brothers, Daniel and Freeman Thomas, of Brandonville, W.Va., 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

    The body was removed from the Ferguson Funeral Home to the Caton residence this morning.

    Short funeral services will be held in the home at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, with additional rites to follow at 2:30 in the Brethren church at Salem, W. Va., in charge of the Rev. C. C. Sollenberger. Burial will be in the Thomas, W. Va. Cemetery.

     Lillie Belle Friend was born on 9 October 1872 in Altamont, Maryland.3,4,5,6,7,8,1 She was the daughter of Thomas Collins Friend and Martha Ann "Maddie" Teets.2 Lillie Belle Friend married John Cleophas Teets, son of Harrison Teets and Florence Ellen Guthrie, on 30 August 1891 in Cranesville Methodist Church, Preston, West Virginia.9 Lillie Belle Friend died on 13 February 1940 in Terra Alta, Preston, West Virginia, at age 67.1,8,3 She was buried after 13 February 1940 in Terra Alta Cemetery, Terra Alta, Preston, West Virginia.1,10,3
     Lillie Belle opened a millinary shop where she made and designed hats. It was located on Washington Street in Terra Alta, and then later at the corner of Washington and Main Street in Terra Alta. It was said that she would travel to the big city of Pittsburgh, make notes of the new hat patterns and make them for her customers.

When she died, it was said that she had very long red hair.11
