William Creed "Willie" Stansberry was born on 29 August 1872 in Monongalia, West Virginia.³ He was born on 29 July 1873 in West Virginia.^{2,5,6,7,8,9,10} He was the son of Jonathan E. Stansberry and Mary Ellen Bell.⁴ William Creed "Willie" Stansberry married Emma Louvera Steele, daughter of Mose Steele and Mary Jane Scott, on 28 December 1895.^10,11 William Creed "Willie" Stansberry died on 17 April 1950 in Uffington, Monongalia, West Virginia, at age 76.³

He was buried on 19 April 1950 in Pisgah Church Cemetery, Morgantown, Monongalia, West Virginia.^3,6

Born at the home of his parents on the west bank of the Monogahela River in Grand District, Monongalia Couny, West Virginia about a mile above the town of Little Falls. William was reared there on the home place and obtained a good education at the Grant School which he attended ten terms. He followed farm work as his main occupation during the days of his youth and continued to make his home with his parents until his marriage.

He and Emma L. Steele were united in marriage at the home of the bride in Clinton District with Rev. J. W. Arbogast, an M.P. minister, officiating. After their marriage, they settled on the Beremore place just above Little Falls in Clinton District where they resided until the death of Mrs. Stansberry's father, when they went to live with her mother at the old home in Pleasant Valley. In l900 they moved to the Selby farm on the Clinton Furnace Road and later living at Fairmont, West Virginia for 3 years while Mr. Stansberry was employed by the B & O RR in the capacity of Freight Delivery Clerk. Their next move was to Eureka, Marion County, West Virginia where they spent three years and Mr. Stansberry divided his time between stone masonry and farming. After leaving Eureka they returned to the Moses Steele homestead for a short time and then to the Kearns Place where they resided until the spring of l9l7 when they removed to Mr. Stansberry's old home place on the river in Grant District where they now reside.

Since his marriage, Mr. Stansberry has done but little farming. His essential occupations have been blacksmithing, plastering, building and he is at present occupied with railroad work. He is a member of the M.P. Church and politically Democratic.¹¹ He registered for the WWI Draft on on 12 September 1918 in Morgantown, Monongalia, West Virginia.⁵

Elijah Clayton Stansberry was born on 9 September 1871 in Smithtown, Monongalia, West Virginia.^{3,4,5,6,2,7,8,9} He was the son of Jonah Stansberry and Sarah Ann Bell.¹ Elijah Clayton Stansberry married Effie Belle Steele, daughter of Moses Hamilton Steele and Rebecca Ann Jenkins, on 9 October 1897 in West Virginia.^10,6,2 Elijah Clayton Stansberry married Myrtle May "Mirtie" Robison, daughter of (?) Robison and (?) Hare, on 14 May 1924 in at the residece of Harry Robison, Monongalia, West Virginia.^11,12,8 Elijah Clayton Stansberry died on 7 November 1955 in Nella Rest Home, Elkins, Randolph, West Virginia, at age 84.^3,4

He was buried after 7 November 1955 in Pisgah Church Cemetery, Morgantown, Monongalia, West Virginia.⁴

Born at the home of his parents on the banks of the Monongahela River, a short distance below where the little mining town of Beechwood now stands, on a farm familiarly known as the Burns place in Clinton District. He was the second son of Jonah and Sarah Ann Stansberry. During his boyhood, he made several moves with his parents before they finally settled down on what is known as the old home place about a mile and a half from Smithtown. As a boy, he was industrious and studious. While assisting his father on the farm he obtained an excellent education in the schools of his district and prepared himself to teach. During the winter of l89l-92, he taught his first term of school at Grant schoolhouse in Grant District, Monogalia County. After teaching at Smithtown in l9l5-l6 he retired from school room work and has since devoted his time to farming and community interests. He taught school 24 terms, all practically in the locality of his home and much good fruit of his efforts may be found in that district.

He and Effie Steele were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents on Booths Creek in Clinton District with the Rev. U.. W. Morrison, an M.P. minister, officiating. Effie Belle was reared there at her Booths Creek home. She obtained a splendid education in the schools of that district and taught school 4 terms prior to her marriage. After their marriage, they settled near Elijah's old home, about a half mile east of Smithtown in Monongalia County. Later they built a new house just across the road and moved into it in l905.

They have long been active members of the Hopewell M.P. Church and leaders in Sunday school work. Both having led unquestionable, moral and upright lives from childhood, they are well worthy of all confidence and respect.

Mr. Stansberry is politically Democratic.¹³

Kisner and Helen Dummers, on 18 April 1899 in Methodist Protestant Chuch Parsonage, Catawba, Marion, West Virginia.^9,1 Creed Watson Stansberry died on 2 August 1945 in State Hospital, Fairmont, Marion, West Virginia, at age 72.^1,4,10

Waitman Melanethan Fast was born on 25 August 1847 in White Day Creek, Monongalia, West Virginia.¹ He was the son of Allen Fast and Rebecca Wroe.¹ Waitman Melanethan Fast married Delia Elizabeth Stansberry, daughter of Stephen Stansberry and Sarah Sapp, on 24 October 1867.^1,2 Waitman Melanethan Fast died on 12 May 1917 in Middle Run at age 69.¹
Waitman Melanethan, son of Allen and Rebecca (WROE) FAST, was born on White Day Creek, August 25, 1847. During his boyhood he helped his father at his mill. At the age of twenty, on October 24, 1867, he was married to Delia Elizabeth Stansbury, of Little Falls, daughter of Stephen and Sarah (Sapp) Stansbury, and granddaughter of Francis Stansbury. She was the youngest of sixteen children and the last to survive, having died February 18, 1930, aged 82 years, three months, and one day. She had long been an invalid and had not walked for ten years because of a torn ligament of the thigh caused by a fall.

Waitman Melanethan and Delia Elizabeth (Stansbury) Fast went to housekeeping on the Howell farm owned by Thomas and Edward Watson, one mile below Catawba, West Virginia. They lived for two years there where Waitman hired out to the Watsons for one hundred and fifty dollars for the first year and two hundred for the second, which payments give an idea of the estimated worth of farm
labor at that time. From this location they moved to the Jesse Shuttleworth farm on Joe's Run where they resided for less than a year. They then moved to the property of Delia E. (Stansbury) Fast's mother, residing there until March 1882. Delia E. (Stansbury) Fast at the death of her mother inherited this land which was some forty acres on the Monongahela River just above Little Falls.

About this time Waitman Melanethan Fast was attrected by the enticing accounts of virgin land in Braxton County, West Virginia, from his brother-in-law, who had visited Issac Newton Holland then living in Flatwoods. He made a journey to visit Mr. Holland, who had formerly lived in Monongalia County, to investigate reports. He returned, sold out his interests in Mononglaia County, and made the move to a four-year lease on the farm of Jacob S. Hyer located two miles north of Sutton.

At the close of this lease he moved to the Twistville country, now Harold, where he purchased a farm of 100 acres, only 30 of which were improved. He and his sons went to work, and within a few years the entire farm was cleared of its heavy timber which was burned or split into fencing rails for the most part. The timber then destroyed would be worth a small fortune if standing today; one string of fence was made of black walnut rails. This land produced well for a few years but was too steep for tillage, the top soil washed away into the Birch River. Waitman Melanethan Fast spent some years working in the lumber yards of the Pardee and Curtin Lumber Company at Sutton. The crops were cared for in the father's absence by the sons, who were strong and willing workers.

The old couple with the youngest daughter yet unmarried continued to live on this farm till the death of the father which occurred May 12, 1917. He was a member of the Methodist Protestant Church but found it more convenient to worship with the Baptists at Middle Run near the homestead, where his monument may be seen in the Middle Run Cemetery. His faithful and affectionate wife lie by his side.³
