    Mr. Johnson was a coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A., and he served in
    the United States Navy during World War II.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Gretna Wriston Johnson; and two
    sisters and one brother.
    Survivors include his four sons, Grover Johnson and wife June of Scarbro,
    Allen Johnson of Charlottesville, Va., Tom Johnson and wife JoAnn of
    Norfolk, Va., and Butch Johnson and wife Judy of Oak Hill; two daughters,
    Kay Cox and husband Calvin of Hinton and Susie Johnson and companion Kenny
    of Scarbro; a daughter-in-law, Jane Johnson of Virginia Beach, Va.; three
    brothers, Robert Johnson of Tennessee, Douglass Johnson of Michigan, and
    Braden Johnson of Churchill, Tenn.; one sister, Betty Lawhorn of Oak Hill;
    17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
    Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill
    with the Rev. Bill Menefee officiating.

    The Johnson Cemetery is located 10 Miles NW of Oak Hill, WV on route 61 towards Montgomery. In the community of Kincaid, turn off Rt 61 and cross a single lane bridge over Loup creek and follow a single lane road up what is called Johnson Branch. One mile from the bridge, turn right onto a dirt road and bear right for several hundred yards til the road splits. Take the left road that curves back around the face of the hill. The graveyard is situated on the left several hundred yards from this turn.

     John Brown Johnson Jr. was born on 13 November 1808 in Kanawha (now Nicholas), (West) Virginia.1,2,3 He was the son of John Brown Johnson and Elizabeth Sims.1 John Brown Johnson Jr. married Mary Elizabeth Pennell Settle, daughter of Abner Settle and Nancy Elizabeth Pennell, on 9 August 1829 in Kanawha, (West) Virginia.2 John Brown Johnson Jr. died on 2 January 1882 in Fayette, West Virginia, at age 73.2,3 He was buried after 2 January 1882 in Johnson Cemetery, Johnson Branch, Fayette, West Virginia.3

    The Johnson Cemetery is located 10 Miles NW of Oak Hill, WV on route 61 towards Montgomery. In the community of Kincaid, turn off Rt 61 and cross a single lane bridge over Loup creek and follow a single lane road up what is called Johnson Branch. One mile from the bridge, turn right onto a dirt road and bear right for several hundred yards til the road splits. Take the left road that curves back around the face of the hill. The graveyard is situated on the left several hundred yards from this turn.
