     Ragina Melton lived on 11 July 1986 in Washington, West Virginia.1 She was educated on 11 November 1988; Ragina Melton Copeland received a $1500 scholarship to work towards her doctorate in higher education administration at West Virginia University. She was the registrar at Parkersburg Community College and continued her duties full-time.

This award was presented by Delta Kappa Gamma, a local honorary association of women educators.

Ragina graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School, Fairmont State College and WVU.2

     Hayes Monroe Melton joined the Army on January 1, 1942.5 Hayes was quiet and poised; also musically inclined (sang baritone). A great dancer, and was very good-natured.

Got married in Missouri while on duty with the USAF in WWII. Was a social worker in Missouri.4 He lived on 6 October 1999.1

     Floyd was gregarious and an intensely loyal friend. Was an electrician and Union official. Had a temper, but never held a grudge. Generous to a fault. Sang tenor. He and his wife Helen were avid square dancers.1
