Abstract--Alva Albin Teets, 74, of Tunnelton, died Dec. 30, at his home. He was born April 15, 1903, in Beech Run, a s/o the late Allison and Matilda Feathers Teets. He was a retired coal miner. Survivors include four sons, Samuel Teets and Jack Teets of Brave, Pa., Howard Teets of Woolen Mills and Benny Teets of Tunnelton; one daughter, Mrs. Louella Baron of Ragland, Ala; one brother, Ted Teets of Kingwood; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Bishop of Valley Point, Mrs. Gussie Eliason of Kingwood and Mrs. Maude DeWitt of Albright; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Johnson Teets, one son, one daughter and two sisters. Burial was in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Valley Point.

He was born April 8, 1941, at Kingwood, a son of the late Carl Anderson and Emma Marie (Teets) Metheny.

He attended the Bass United Methodist Church in Moorefield. Gail was a carpenter and had worked for many years in Florida and Texas.

He is survived by a son, Timothy and Nancy Metheny of Templeton, Ga.; a daughter, Tina and Richard Evans of Parsons; five brothers, Edward and Ruth of Reedsville, Bob and Connie of Virginia, Allen Dale and Jackie of North Carolina, Carlton and Carolyn of Reedsville and Francis of Kingwood; three sisters, Grace Taylor of Kingwood, Mary Nice of Terra Alta and Betty and Elmer Walls of Reedsville; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and his first wife, Joyce Gale (Youtzy) Metheny.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Ralph and John; and one sister, Hilda Squires.

Friends will be received at Morgan Funeral Home, Route 7, East Reedsville from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today where funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 2, with Dr. Gary E. Helms officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Terra Alta.

asking for information on the Teets family. Sorry to say I have no
information to share with you about your Joseph Teets. The info I have
is on the descendants of Eugene Teets and Jennie Ellen Wolfe, as
compiled by Louise Teets Golden in 1985.

On the Surname Index on your Web site, you list several Dodges related
to the Teets. As I reviewed the list, I noticed spelling errors on two
names: Bruce Aucil Dodge should be spelled Bruce Ancil Dodge and Myrtly
Ellen Dever should be spelled Myrtle Ellen Lee Dever. The enclosed
attachments prove the spellings. In addition, My aunt, Dolly Marie Dodge
Metheny, now deceased, confirmed to me that her father's name was Bruce
Ancil Dodge.

I have seen the "Aucil" spelling many times and believe the error
originated in some of the hand written records I have of my family in
which the script "n" and "u" are nearly identical. It is likely that
additional hand written copies in the same hand or photocopies thereof
have been responsible for perpetuating the error.

Other hand written records I have clearly have "Ancil", as in the Clara
A. Beatty Bible. (Clara was married to Charles F. Dodge.) Also,
newspaper announcements have the spelling "Ancil."

If you have official records or primary sources that show the spelling
as "Aucil", I would appreciate having copies.

Myrtle is my mother, and I have attached copies of primary sources to
prove the spelling of her name.
