    A funeral Mass will be held for Scott 11 a.m., Monday, May 24, 2010 at St. Michaels Catholic Church; 3705 Stone Lakes Drive, Jeffersontown, KY 40299, with a private burial to follow. Visitation will be from 10 – 11 a.m., prior to Mass, also at St. Michaels. Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home is caring for arrangements.

     Philomena Blanche Helena "Minnie" Crossen was born on 14 August 1891 in County Cork, Ireland.4,5,1 She was the daughter of Thomas Crossen and Elizabeth McFarland.3 Philomena Blanche Helena "Minnie" Crossen married Zephy Scott Teets, son of Thurman Hall Teets and Laura Jane Sapp, circa 1903.4,1 Philomena Blanche Helena "Minnie" Crossen died on 6 October 1922 in Donora, Washington, Pennsylvania, at age 31.1 She was buried after 6 October 1922 in St. Mary Cemetery, Monongalia, Pennsylvania.1

Philomena's place of birth may not be in Ireland as noted. It has been said that she may have been born in Mckeesport, Pennsylvania. The below story is from Veronica Mildred Teets (daughter of Philomena but raised by Regina and Marc Smith). Regina and Veronica's mother were sisters.

Philomena said when they came to America, the "O" must have dropped into the ocean coming over. The family name should be O'Crossen. When they reached Ellis Island, her father was asked his name and he replied "Thomas O'Crossen". The "O" must have been misunderstood as his middle initial and his family name put down as Crossen - He became Thomas O. Crossen.

According to Joseph Donald Teets, June 2002, there may have been a marriage between the Hector and Crossen families. It is possible that Philomena's grandmother was a Hector whose family served the King. It has been said that Thomas O'Crossen was in the Queen's Navy.1

    You might make a minor correction to my Thurman Hall Teets (and yes Phyllis Teets has proved without a doubt that the middle name was HALL) ... this Thurman was married to Laura Jane Sapp.... you have that his nickname was "Harry". It really wasn't!
    Read the note you have below Thuman Hall Teet's name that my uncle Thurman Teets wrote to you (wow, no wonder this is so confusing...so many THURMANS)....the note states that Thurman Thomas Teets that married Emma Semok had the nickname "Harry" and that Thurman Thomas "Harry" Teets worked for Indiana Bell (this is my grandfather). You have the nickname "Harry" under Thurman Hall Teets.
