    A native of Friendsville she was a daughter of the late Peter and Blanch (Teets) Uphold. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy B. DeWitt in 1976. She was a member of Laurel Run Church of God.

    Survivors include two sons, Donald DeWitt, Oakland, Md. and Otis DeWitt, Harrisburg, Pa.; these daughters, Mrs. Marie Alexander, Frostburg, Md. Mrs. Dolly Fike, Addison, Pa., and Mrs. Leona Tressler, Grafton, Md. Mrs. Betty Vincent, Salsibury, Pa., and Mrs. Norma Uphold, Friendsville, Md.; one brother, Robert Uphold, Hazelton, W.Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Gibson, Oakland, Md. Mrs. Edna Rodeheaver, Hazelton, W.Va., and Mrs. Grace
    Wilson, Arlington, Va.; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

    Friends were received in the Newman Funeral Home where services were conducsted by the Rev. Philip Geoghas. Interment, Blooming Rose Cemetery.

     Oscar Jay Wilson was born on 19 April 1891 in Rock Cave, Upshur, West Virginia.3,2,4,5,6,7,8 He was the son of Charles William Wilson and Nettie Frances Riggleman.3 Oscar Jay Wilson married Bernice Gypsy Fidler, daughter of Robert Henry Fidler and Mary Roberta McAvoy, in 1911.5,9 Oscar Jay Wilson died on 31 October 1950 in Upshur, West Virginia, at age 59.9,10 He was buried after 31 October 1950 in Wilson Chapel Cemetery, Upshur, West Virginia.11
     Oscar Jay Wilson registered for the WWI Draft on on 5 June 1917 in Upshur, West Virginia.2 He registered for the WWII Draft on on 27 April 1942 in Harrisburg, Ritchie, West Virginia.8

He was a member of the French Creek DAV Chapter No. 36, and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 3663 of Buckhannon.

    Friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005; from 4 to 8 p.m. Mr. Wilson will be moved to the Wilson Chapel UM Church on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, where he will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. the funeral hour.

    Interment will follow in the Wilsontown Cemetery. The Rock Cave Lodge No. 81, will have Masonic services at the graveside.

He was a member of the French Creek DAV Chapter No. 36, and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 3663 of Buckhannon.

    Friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005; from 4 to 8 p.m. Mr. Wilson will be moved to the Wilson Chapel UM Church on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, where he will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. the funeral hour.

    Interment will follow in the Wilsontown Cemetery. The Rock Cave Lodge No. 81, will have Masonic services at the graveside.

    The Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
