    Dewey J. Wilfong
    MARTINSBURG — Dewey J. Wilfong, 80, of Martinsburg died Feb. 16, 2006, at the Knox Community Hospital.

    He was born May 20, 1925, in Davis, W.Va., to David J. and Marybelle (Ratsford) Wilfong. He was a member of the Northside Church of Christ, and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the VFW Post 4027 and Utica Sertoma Club; and the Eagles Lodge in Newark and Heath. He retired in 1975 from the Pittsburgh Plate Glass after serving 30 years. Later, he was employed at Kenyon College for 15 years during the winter, and during the summer months at the Utica Swimming Pool for 21 years.

    He is survived by his wife, Charlene N. (Jones) Wilfong, to whom he had been married 59 years; one daughter, Naomi (Paul) Robinson of Mount Vernon; two sons, Dewey R. (Rhonda) Wilfong of Newark and James L. (Jana) Wilfong of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren, Bobbi (Jason) Maleszewski, Angela Lintz, Haylee Robinson, Brian Wilfong, Brock (Valerie) Wilfong, Derek Wilfong, and Jayme, Jennifer, Jillian Wilfong; a special friend, Katy Wilfong; and many nieces and nephews.

    Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ocie Whisner, Mamie Dice and Ruth Parson; three brothers: Lester, David and Roy Lee Wilfong.

    Friends may call Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the North-Dilley Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be Sunday 2 p.m. with Mr. Bruce Hissong and Mr. Frank Austin officiating. Burial will be in Martinsburg Cemetery. A military service with honors will be conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1105 Mount Vernon Ave., Marion, OH 43302. This obituary along with an online registry may be viewed at www.dilleyfuneralservice.com.

    How have you been? I haven't been doing much research lately because of back problems. I'm going in for surgery on 10th of July for a 2 layer fusion and laminectomy. I received a pkg. from my sister in law today and she's asking me for help and I remember that you and I had worked on this for a while. As you can see, I found an email re: William (Andrew) and now a few more things make sense. Remember, after he died, his wife (Violet Williams Teets) died in 1932. I never could find the name of the woman who took them in. Might have been Jennie P. Keenan in Scottdale, PA.
    Anyway, my sister in law sent me a copy of William Teets' (born 9/11/1880 Terra Alta, WV-died 8/25/1929 in Mt. Pleasant, PA) death certificate. We now know his father's name (John Teets born in Preston County, WV) and his mother's name (Jennie - looks like - Pullam of Preston County, WV) as well. Apparently, Cheryl, my sister in law, tried to find info on John Teets and got no where. She said she spoke to WV records but got no where.
    Anyway, I hope this helps us find more about William (A) Teets, Jennie Pullam, Jennie Kennan, and what happened to my father's siblings with the exception of Dorothy and my dad.

    I can provide some small amount of information about my father but, I'm afraid, not much. George William Teets - born 6/30/1919 possibly in Scottdale, PA. Died 1/13/1957 in Miami, FL. He may have been in an orphanage briefly after Violet's death before going to live with his sister Dorothy. He was a Mennonite, worked in Duraloy Steel Mill, was in WWII, 333rd Inf., 84th Division as a courier. Was at the Battle of the Bulge.
    I must confess, I'm a bit confused about William A. Teets' (grandfather) birth year. My brother sent me a (poor quality) copy of a 1930 census that has William living on Hwy 65 in what appears to be Raleigh County W. Va as a boarder. His age is listed as 45. His occupation is listed as ironworker and the industry as "tipple." He is listed as married but there is no more information with regard to Violet here and I have no information about him after this.
    So, I think they DID live in Westmoreland County in 1920 but how William Andrew Teets ended up in W. Va., in 1930, married but living in a boarding house, I don't know. I *do* know that two years later (1932), Violet died and my father (who would have been about 13) went to an orphanage. So somewhere during that two years William Andrew Teets leaves the picture....so we see him after 1920 but not after 1930.
    I hope you aren't nearly as confused after reading this as I am !

    Funeral services and interment were held privately for the family.
