On December 10, 1942 he married Susan Katherine Shahan Beer who preceded him in death on July 8, 2007. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Maxell Lee Beer and one sister, Elizabeth Beer. He is survived by two sons, James M. Beer, II and wife Barbara of Morgantown, WV and Stephen K. Beer of Morgantown; two step granddaughters, Autumn McDaniel of Morgantown and Amber Nearranzio of Latrobe, PA and four step great-grandchildren. Mr. Beer was a retired manager for Columbia Gas, a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, also a member of the Masonic Lodge in PA. He served with the Army Air Force during WW II and with the 322nd Bombardier Group. He was a member of the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Disabled Veterans and the Buckhannon Country Club. Friends will be received Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 5-7 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev.     MARTINSBURG — Dewey J. Wilfong, 80, of Martinsburg died Feb. 16, 2006, at the Knox Community Hospital.

    He was born May 20, 1925, in Davis, W.Va., to David J. and Marybelle (Ratsford) Wilfong. He was a member of the Northside Church of Christ, and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the VFW Post 4027 and Utica Sertoma Club; and the Eagles Lodge in Newark and Heath. He retired in 1975 from the Pittsburgh Plate Glass after serving 30 years. Later, he was employed at Kenyon College for 15 years during the winter, and during the summer months at the Utica Swimming Pool for 21 years.

    He is survived by his wife, Charlene N. (Jones) Wilfong, to whom he had been married 59 years; one daughter, Naomi (Paul) Robinson of Mount Vernon; two sons, Dewey R. (Rhonda) Wilfong of Newark and James L. (Jana) Wilfong of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren, Bobbi (Jason) Maleszewski, Angela Lintz, Haylee Robinson, Brian Wilfong, Brock (Valerie) Wilfong, Derek Wilfong, and Jayme, Jennifer, Jillian Wilfong; a special friend, Katy Wilfong; and many nieces and nephews.

    Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ocie Whisner, Mamie Dice and Ruth Parson; three brothers: Lester, David and Roy Lee Wilfong.

    Friends may call Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the North-Dilley Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be Sunday 2 p.m. with Mr. Bruce Hissong and Mr. Frank Austin officiating. Burial will be in Martinsburg Cemetery. A military service with honors will be conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.

    Mary Ellen Wilfong Latimer, 73, of Charleston passed away Thursday morning, May 12, 2005 at CAMC General Hospital of injuries sustained in a fall at home. She was born Aug. 1, 1931 at Glenville, a daughter of the late Cayborne and Henrietta Gainer Wilfong. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark; a sister, Kathryn Wilfong Wilson; and a brother James William Wilfong. She was a graduate of Weston High School and WVU. For over 30 years, she was a volunteer with Meals-on-Wheels and served several terms on the board of directors. She was retired from TJ Xaxx Department Store, Charleston, and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish for over 37 years. She was a devoted, loving and caring wife and mother who was happiest when surrounded by her familiy. Her love of all sports, especially basketball, was inherited from her father who was a coach at Weston High School for many years. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ira S. Latimer, Jr.; daughters, Susan Haga and her husband, Lowell, of Charleston and grandchildren, Jessica Ziegler and Husband, Michael of Hellertown, Pa., and Franklin Latimer and fiancee, Joanna Holstein, of Montgomery; two great grandchildren, Dylon and Trinity Ziegler of Hellertown, Pa. Funeral service will be at 11AM Saturday, May 14, at Wilsons Funeral Home with Father P. Edward Sadie officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Weston, at 2PM.
