Helen Silman Teets, 77, of Harrisonburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007. She had been receiving excellent and loving care at Loyalton in Harrisonburg for the past year.
Mrs. Teets was born in Winchester, Va., on Nov. 2, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Glenn C. Silman and Minnie Swisher Silman Newlin. She graduated from Stephens City High School.
On Aug. 21, 1948, she married Cecil Jackson Teets, who preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1986.
In addition to being a homemaker and a mother, Helen had worked for a short while for Gentry Photography in the 60s. She was a partner in her husband's wholesale automotive parts business, Service Parts of Harrisonburg, Inc. from 1967 until their retirement in May 1986.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Lee Tharp and husband, Richard Craig Tharp, and Candace J. Matthews and husband, Thomas (Mickey) Matthews. She was blessed with three grandsons: Zachary C. Tharp, Jacob S. Tharp and Kyle W. Houser; a stepgrandaughter, Morgan J. Matthews. She is also survived by a sister, Virginia Reynolds of Richmond, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn E. Silman of Winchester.
Helen was a baptized member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church. Later in life she attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Keezletown.
A celebration of Helen?s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Karen Church officiating. A graveside service will follow with interment at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Helen Silman Teets, 77, of Harrisonburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007. She had been receiving excellent and loving care at Loyalton in Harrisonburg for the past year.
Mrs. Teets was born in Winchester, Va., on Nov. 2, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Glenn C. Silman and Minnie Swisher Silman Newlin. She graduated from Stephens City High School.
On Aug. 21, 1948, she married Cecil Jackson Teets, who preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1986.
In addition to being a homemaker and a mother, Helen had worked for a short while for Gentry Photography in the 60s. She was a partner in her husband's wholesale automotive parts business, Service Parts of Harrisonburg, Inc. from 1967 until their retirement in May 1986.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Lee Tharp and husband, Richard Craig Tharp, and Candace J. Matthews and husband, Thomas (Mickey) Matthews. She was blessed with three grandsons: Zachary C. Tharp, Jacob S. Tharp and Kyle W. Houser; a stepgrandaughter, Morgan J. Matthews. She is also survived by a sister, Virginia Reynolds of Richmond, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn E. Silman of Winchester.
Helen was a baptized member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church. Later in life she attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Keezletown.
A celebration of Helen?s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor Karen Church officiating. A graveside service will follow with interment at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

BURTON "Chub" CLARK, 82, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Monday, October 13, 2003, in St. Marys Medical Center. He was born January 9, 1921, in Sand Run, W.Va., a son of the late Martin Frances and Grace Jeffries Clark of Buchannon, W.Va. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Ruth Clark; two brothers, Vaden Ellis "Red" Clark and Roy Frances "Kippy" Clark; two sisters, Vera Hazel Hodgkiss and Leona Fern Adams; and a grandson, Burton Daymon Clark II. He was a retired foreman for the former Huntington Alloys. He served in the 15th Division of the Army Air Corps and was a Prisoner of War during World War II. He was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church, BPOE #313, and VFW Post 1064. Survivors include his wife, Audrey Kendall Clark of Huntington; one son, Larry Eugene Clark of Huntington, W.Va.; one daughter, Linda Clark Lee of Richmond, Va.; one stepson, Larry Robert Kendall, and wife, Josephine of Huntington; daughter-in-law, Sue Clark of Culloden, W.Va.; four grandsons, David Russell Clark of Columbus, Ohio, Phillip Tadd Clark of Atlanta, Ga., Austin Burke Lee of Richmond, Va., and Billy Joe McCallister of Huntington; four granddaughters, Betty Jane (Clark) Ayers and husband David Ayers of Ona, W.Va., Amy Elizabeth Lee of San Diego, Calif., Meredith Elayne Allen and husband Jason Allen of St. Louis, Mo., and Angela Dawn Cogle and husband Eric Cogle of Denver, Colo.; eight great-grandchildren, Katie and Hannah Ayers of Ona, W.Va., and Austin, Chelsea, Alicia and Mitchell Clark of Columbus, Ohio, Hunter Cogle of Denver, and Tyler McCallister of Huntington; two sisters, Ada Irene Garrison and husband Tom Garrison of Dunbar, W.Va., and Mildred Elizabeth Clark of Dunbar, W.Va.; and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at Chapmans Mortuary, Huntington, with Dr. Terrell Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Heavener Cemetery, Buchannon, W.Va., with a graveside services at 3 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation, or Highlawn Baptist Church. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2003, at Chapmans Mortuary.
