Born March 4, 1921 in Linwood, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Dills Wilfong and Mabel Kathryn Showalter Wilfong. She was twice married. Her first husband, Clyde C. Beale, preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1972. On July 4, 1980, she was united in marriage to Fred Brown, who preceded her in death on June 4, 1986. Surviving is her best friend Basil Price of Hecky's Creek; one daughter, Nayoka Kathryn Beale Guthrie of Elkins, and two sons, Roger Wayne Beale and wife Alice, of Harrisonburg, Va., and Rocky Layne Beale of Valley Head. Also surviving are two grandsons, Chad Wayne Beale of Harrisonburg, Va., and Jay Hansford Guthrie of Great Barrington, Mass.; one great-grandson Andrew "Drew" Beale; several stepchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ernestine was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by two brothers, John Randall Wilfong and Robert Garland Wilfong; and one half brother, Rayborn Delano Doyle. Ernestine was a homemaker. She loved sewing, making quilts and flowere gardening. She was involved in activities for raising money for the Valley Head Community Building Fund. She was also a member of the former Ruritan Club in Valley Head, where she held offices. Ernestine attended the Lighthouse Chapel, which she purchased, and her best friend Basil, reconstructed the building, for worship services. She enjoyed chatting on the telephone with friends and relatives, especially her friend Woody Simmons. Friends will be received at the F. E. Runner Funeral Home after 6PM on Wednesday. Mrs. Brown will be moved to the Lighthouse Chapel for visitation from 11AM to 1PM, the funeral hour. The Rev. Verl Simmons, pastor of the Mill Creek Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mingo Cemetery in Mingo. The F. E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Ernestine T. Beale Brown.
