On December 10, 1942 he married Susan Katherine Shahan Beer who preceded him in death on July 8, 2007. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Maxell Lee Beer and one sister, Elizabeth Beer. He is survived by two sons, James M. Beer, II and wife Barbara of Morgantown, WV and Stephen K. Friends will be received Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 5-7 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev.
