    John,

I'm back. Stuck again. But I don't know if this is in your area at all. My g-grandfather, George Evans Cox, was born March 7, 1842, in Marietta, Ohio. Family legend says that he had 4 brothers and they were all "river rats". He served in the 8th Missouri Infantry in the Civil War. It was an Irish regiment, the Zouves. I can find no Coxes among the Marietta Ohio pioneers, none listed up to 1800, but George Evans III claimed his father was born in Ohio, his mother in New York so the family should have been in Ohio by 1810-20. Also, the III, if that is accurate, indicates that his father was a George Evans. After the Civil War, George moved to Denver,Colorado. I found him in the 1880 census where he had married a Mary O'Connell (family tradition says she was from Dublin) and her sister Nellie was living with them. He moved down to Durango, Colorado, then south to Hurley, NM, where he died. Any theories on George Evans II?

I delivered my packet on the Wildfangs to my brother and one neice. They spent a lot of time reviewing the information and I have a feeling they'll be checking your website.
