He was born Oct. 8, 1925, at Bartow, W.Va., a son of the late Elmer L. Wilfong and Clara Mae Washburn Wilfong. He was formerly married to Gail Ruth Ours Jenkins, who survives. Surviving is his fiancee, Dorothy Poling.
Also surviving are one son, Daniel L. Wilfong of Parkersburg; two daughters, Alana W. Minear of Charleston and Ginger Showalter of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Brandon L. Wilfong of Elkins, Daniel K. Wilfong of Morgantown, Stacey E. Minear of San Diego, Calif., and Christina Willink of Parkersburg.
He is the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by one son, David Wilfong; four brothers, Edward Gray Wilfong, Franklin D. Wilfong, Eugene Wilfong and Robert Blair Wilfong; and one sister, Dolly L. Roy.
He attended the schools of Randolph County. He served with the United States Marine Corp. He was a championship boxer. He had more than 50 years of business development experience in the State of West Virginia. Because of his strong community ties and his business acumen, he is a two-time "Distinguished West Virginian" award recipient, "West Virginia Entrepreneur of the Year." He was awarded "Tuckineer of the Year" during the year 1986 and he was awarded "Tucker County Farmer of the Year." His extensive business expertise and leadership skills have been instrumental in shaping the City of Parsons as well as our state. Working with other businessmen, he was part of a group instrumental in bringing Kingsford Charcoal to Tucker County. He was known for possessing both the vision and execution needed to succeed, he identified a need for trucking for the different plants located in and near Parsons. After the flood of 1985 devastated the town of Parsons, Mr. Wilfong was instrumental in using his resources and expertise in working with the Corps of Engineers and Senator Byrd in, not only developing a plan for reconstruction, but also in gaining additional funds from Washington to raise the height of the flood walls. With the determination of the Cookie Ladies in raising money for fuel and other labor costs and Mr. Wilfong providing expertise and equipment, the dredging process was expanded from the town bridge to the upper end of the pulp mill bottom. He was president and CEO of D&W Truck Lines, Tucker County Diesel, Performance Motors, Harrison Warehouse and Parsons Logistics and as such was responsible for overall company operations and market development. As one of the largest employers in Tucker County, he was always seeking business opportunities and strategic alliances with the growth and development of the City of Parsons foremost in his mind. He has consistently worked with governors, senators and congressmen throughout his lifetime in shaping the economic development of the state. A member of the House of Delegates has stated, "The state has lost a true leader."
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons. Final rites will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Pastor Allen D. Crosten officiating. Entombment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.

  3. [S804] Cari Williams Gillette, email to John Teets, 8/18/2006, Re: Zephy Scott Teets' second wife, Anna Mae Duffy / Hartstien:
Unfortunately, I do not know who Anna's father was. She first appears in
the 1900 census with her mother Isabella Duffy who is single. Anna is
listed as being born April 1893 in PA of Irish parents. Just last month
I received my grandmother Isabella's birth certificate from Donegal
County, Ireland; she was born 2 Nov 1870 and her parents were Andrew
Duffy and Mary Jane Stewart. In 1910 Anna is with her mother who is
married to Francis Richard Williams born 22 Jul 1859 Staffordshire,
England. Three other children, Gladys, Ella Mae, and Leonard, are also
in the same census. My father, Raymond Christopher Williams, was born
1912 in Donora and appears on the 1920 census with Gladys, Ella Mae, and
Leonard. I have met all these aunts and uncle in the past, but Anna died
    before I was born.

In the 1920 census Anna is married to Harry Hartstien (Hartstine) with
girls Ethel, Margaret, and Harriett and they are living in Donora,
Washington, PA. Harry's WWI registration card of 1918 has Anna listed as
his wife. I do not know if Harry died, but in the 1930 census of Donora
Anna is listed as the wife of Scott Teets and they are living at 120
Meldon Ave. This is the same address Scott had with Philomena in the
1920 census. I also have the 1910 census of Scott with Philomena.

Anna died 12 Jun 1934, which was shortly after her last child, Catherine
was born 14 May 1934. She was buried as Anna Mae Teets 15 Jun 1934 in
the Monongahela Cemetery in a plot her mother, my grandmother Isabella
Duffy Williams, had bought. My grandfather, Francis Williams, died 2 Jul
1931 and shares a headstone with my grandmother, Isabella who died 18
Dec 1954. Anna's headstone is next to theirs.

My grandmother, Isabella "Bella", helped raise Catherine, and some of my
birthday cards as a child were signed "Grandma Williams and Catherine."
I met Catherine once when I was a child when we took a trip to Donora,
PA. Do you know if Catherine is still living and where?

I spent 2 weeks doing genealogy research in PA this past summer with 2
of my sisters and a brother from California. We visited the Monongahela
Cemetery and found out that St. Mary's Cemetery is now part of it.

I have a copy of the obit for Scott's mother, Laura, who died 29 Feb
1940 at the age of 82 at the home of grandson Curtis DeBerry in Mount
Braddock, PA. Plus I have a 2 other articles about Scott, one titled
"Donora Boy Loses Leg As Trucks Sideswipe In Passing" (Scott was driving
one of the trucks) and "Donora Man Dies of Hurts After Fall" which is
    about Scott's death.
