    Pumphrey, tlie. daughter of Lorenzo Dow Pumphrey and Annie Wilfong: the
    daughter of A. Wilfong. His father was a native of Wales and immigrated
    to America, first settling in Pennsylvania, and then moving to Barbour
    County and thence to Upshur. The subject of this sketch was raised on a farm,
    and is a farmer, his wife was Cora Westfall, the daughter of Jasper N. Westfall
    and Jane Reese. Her father was the son of Watson, the son of George, the son
    of Zachariah, the son of Jacob, the son of James Westfall, who built Westfall’s
    fort in 1774, in Randolph County. Mr. Miles owns thirty-seven acres of land,
    two miles east of Buckhannon, on the Beverly and Buckhannon Turn Pike; is a
    Prohibitionist in politics and a member of the Church of God in religion. He has
    been Justice of the Peace in Union District for six years. His children are:

     Seymour H. Hess was born on 8 August 1854 in Upshur, West Virginia.7,8,9,10,11 He was the son of Hezekiah Hess and Drucilla Bean.5,6 Seymour H. Hess married Loretta "Reta/Retta" Wilfong, daughter of Henry Wilfong and Catherine "Kate" Mowry, on 15 October 1879 in married by Rev. Lister, Upshur, West Virginia; Charles Loman married Dora May Hess, daughter of Seymour Hess married
Loreta Wilfong, and Is a resident of Meade District, is a farmer and owns a farm of sixty acres on the waters of the Buckhannon river, about two miles south of the Post office of Sago.12,13,14,15 Seymour H. Hess died on 15 July 1932 in Buckhannon, Upshur, West Virginia, at age 77.7,10 He was buried on 17 July 1932 in Bailey School Houise Cemetery, Upshur, West Virginia.7
