Elsie Purchase Teets of Boulder died of chronic lymphocytic leukemia Sunday, June 13, 2004, in Boulder. She was 81.
The daughter of Ralph Purchase and Alice C. Henshaw Purchase, she was born on June 16, 1922, in Muskegon Heights, Mich. She married Otis E. Teets on Dec. 22, 1948, in Fort Collins.
She earned a bachelor of science degree in library science from Ypsilanti College in Michigan.
Mrs. Teets worked as a librarian at Muskegon Heights High School for three years, Fort Collins High School for four years, Lincoln Elementary in Boulder for 19 years and Majestic Heights Elementary in Boulder for three years. She also was a librarian at First United Methodist Church of Boulder for 30 years. She retired in 1985.
She moved to Boulder in May 1950.
Mrs. Teets enjoyed hiking, camping, identifying flowers, working on the Colorado Trail and square dancing.
"She was a wonderful woman, always full of energy and so positive about everything in life," her family said. "She loved and was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed."
Survivors include her husband of Boulder; a brother, Earl Purchase of Richmond, Va.; four sons, Walter R. Teets of Mead, Wash., Richard E. Teets of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Russell W. Teets of Boulder and Donald A. Teets of Rapid City, S.D.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Purchase.
A memorial servicewill be at 10:30 a.m. June 26 at First United Methodist Church of Boulder, 1421 Spruce St. The Rev. Teena Racheli of the church will officiate. A reception will follow.
Cremation has occurred. Her ashes will be placed into the columbarium niche in Green Mountain Cemetery, 290 20th St., Boulder.

Nellie M. Bilbrey
Nellie Maxine Teets Bilbrey, 68, a resident of Worthington Manor, passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 11, 1936, in Fairmont, W.Va., a daughter of the late James Leslie Teets and Hanah Maxine (Weaver) Teets. Mrs. Bilbrey had worked for more than 40 years as a waitress at various restaurants and was a Protestant by faith. She is survived by three sons, Ricky Lee Teets and William Gerald Teets, both of Florida, and Robert Wayne Taylor of Parkersburg; four sisters, Wanda "Billie" Tennant of Parkersburg, Elsie Arlene "Tootie" Gain of Texas, Mary Jean Dozier and Theresa Mae Teets, both of Florida; four grandsons; and several nieces and nephews, including Michelle Talkington, Sandy Nicolais and Kim Forshey.
Her husband, James Bilbrey preceded her in death in 1996. Also preceding her in death is her foster parents, Nellie and Lester White.
A celebration of life memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 at the Sunset Memory Gardens Chapel of Peace Mausoleum. Entombment will follow in the Three Crosses Mausoleum.
The family requested that all memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Bilbrey be sent to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Online condolences for the family can be sent to www.kimesfh.com. Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg is assisting the family with arrangements.

Nellie Maxine Teets Bilbrey, 68, a resident of Worthington Manor, passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 11, 1936, in Fairmont, W.Va., a daughter of the late James Leslie Teets and Hanah Maxine (Weaver) Teets. Mrs. Bilbrey had worked for more than 40 years as a waitress at various restaurants and was a Protestant by faith.
