    Arthur Charles Kreiger, 87, Cumberland, formerly of Lovettsville, Va., and Garrett County, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at his residence.

    Born Oct. 11, 1917, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late John A. and Marie (Whitacre) Kreiger. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Wilson Taylor; two sisters, Anna Chaney and Dorothy Long Hanifin; and one brother, George Kreiger.

    Mr. Kreiger was a watchmaker/jeweler for S.T. Little?s and later owned and operated his own jewelry business in Purcellville, Va. He was a member of the Northern Virginia Watchmakers Guild, Lovettsville Lions Club, and Lovettsville Fireman's Association. He was also a former member of the Masons in Virginia. He was Methodist by faith.

    Surviving are his wife, Catherine (Teats) Kreiger; one daughter, Jerry Freeland, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; one son, Arthur C. Kreiger II, Petersburg, Va.; six grandchildren, Rebecca Freeland, Cumberland, Christine Freeland and husband, Springfield, Va., Paul Wilson and wife, Lovettsville, Va., Dean Wilson, Charles Town, W.Va., Me-lissa Hines and husband, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Kenny Freeland Jr. and wife, Morgantown, W.Va.; seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Eileen Hedrick, Wiley Ford; one brother, Charles Kreiger and wife Erma, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.

    The family would like to thank the Western Maryland Health System Home Hospice and Dr. Bollino for their outstanding care and his caregivers: Donna, Mary, Melody, Ronda, Tammy, Trisha, Barb, Nancy, and Nanette.

    At Mr. Kreiger?s request his body has been donated to the Maryland State Anatomy Board.

    A memorial service will be conducted at the Grace Ministry, 4th and Seymour streets, Cumberland, on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m., with Pastor John W. Thomas Jr. officiating.
