Will Teets Meets With a Terrible Accident Tuesday Evening.
Knocked From a Street Car and Falling Beneath the Wheels Was Crushed.
Will Teets, an employe of the traction company, met with an accident Tuesday evening which may prove fatal. He was working near the old car barn when a car drawing an empty truck, went by. Teets, thinking he would take a ride, mounted the step, but did not enter the car. The ride was uneventful until they reached a point near an Italian fruit store, in front of which stood an empty wagon. The boy evidently did not see the wagon or did not have time to draw himself out of danger for in an he was struck by it and was hurled behind the wheels of the truck. The truck passed over both legs, crushing the right foot into a mass and splintering the bone of the left leg for 6 or 8 inches. The left ear was torn off and his shoulders bruised and cut. Dr. Jesse Cooper was called, and after bandaging the wounds, sent the unfortunate boy to the hospital in McGonigle's ambulance, where the left leg was amputated six inches below the knee Teets is 18 years of age and a son of Newton Teets of the West Side.
Since the above was written the unfortunate young man died from the effects of his injuries. His death occurred about 10 o'clock Wednesday forenoon. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sadden affliction.
